With the VOCAMERICA Kickstarter now closed AkiGlancy (EmpathP) has revealed the “mystery UTAU” that claimed the $1,000 “UTAU Performance Reward Package” to be none other Seiun Virtual Idols Project’s Viki Hopper. Viki Hopper is an English VCCV voicebank developed for the UTAU singthesis software.
As part of “UTAU Performance Reward Package” Viki Hopper will appear in concert performing an original song written and composed by EmpathP. As updates for Viki Hopper are still pending she won’t debut until “next summer” during a yet unnamed future VOCAMERICA event as the opening act.
Congratulations to Ben Laudicano and the rest of the Seiun team. Thanks to you and 313 other backers supporting this, and other future concerts, would not have been possible. Viki Hopper is amazing and we look forward to her VOCAMERICA debut later next year.
You can download Viki Hopper for FREE here. You can listen to a sample of her in a video embedded below. Continue reading “Seiun Virtual Idols Project’s Viki Hopper to Perform at VOCAMERICA” »
VOCAMERICA: The Western Concert Project is a live holographic musical event featuring English and Western vocal synthesizers of both the Vocaloid and UTAU variety. The event is sponsored by Producer & Daina Voice Provider AkiGlancy and her studio Empathy Studios to be held at NEKOCON 2016. While much of the initial equipment and production related costs were fronted by EmpathP she reached a point where she turned toward the community and Kickstarter for help.
Through the Kickstarter she hopes to finalize the payments of the VOCAMERICA staff members and produce an official concert CD and merchandise. The initial NEKOCON concert is to star Vocaloid Dex & Daina as the main act with Vocaloid Ruby & Maika and UTAU Aiko Kikyuune & Namida with supporting sets. If successful Aki hopes to expand VOCAMERICA to include additional singers and venues.
At the time of writing the Kickstarter is fully funded and is set for Nekocon 2016. As with most Kickstarters Vocamerica is looking to expand its scope and has a variety of stretch goals including “performance upgrades” for potential virtual singers as well as projection and motion capture equipment upgrades.
The campaign is currently working toward its final stretch goals at $20,000 for a Tonio & Prima “performance upgrade” and $25,000 Bruno & Clara “performance upgrade”. Previous stretch goals already met include performance upgrades for Big Al, Sonika, Yohioloid, Oliver and Avanna.

In a merch campaign promoting the MikuExpo 2016 Tour along with the official Hatsune Miku Expo 2016 E.P. special edition compilation album the organisers have setup a PledgeMusic campaign to help raise additional funds for the tour as well as give fans the chance to bring Miku to their own town.
For those unfamiliar PledgeMusic operates similar to Kickstarter in that it is an all-or-nothing style crowdfunding platform that specifically targets musicians and music fans. The campaign offers a variety of rewards including the MikuExpo 2016 EP, tour t-shirts, multicolor glowsticks, concert credits and more.
The holy grail of prizes however has to be the $1,000,000 tier however, where for the low price of one million dollars one enterprising Vocaloid fans can put his/her money where their mouth is and bring Hatsune Miku to your own town for a concert (unspecified restrictions apply).
The PledgeMusic campaign quickly reached its goal when the unique concert experiences sold out quickly and now the campaign is mostly acting as a hub for merch pre-orders and AccessPass digital download sales.

IA ROCKS Sessions:
Mirai no Neiro
Mirai no Neiro (Sound of the Future) is a grass-roots volunteer group who aim to introduce Japan’s Vocaloid culture to countries around the world. So far they’re doing a pretty amazing job – having pulled off highly successful unofficial Vocaloid concerts in the US, Germany, Taiwan, Denmark, Switzerland, Mexico and Chile!
While Mirai no Neiro is an unofficial concert IA ROCKS’ world tour is anything but. Sponsored by 1STPLACE the Vocaloid publisher has been showcasing IA across the world selling out live events in France, Taiwan and America. If you are looking for a virtual pop idol I can assure you that IA does indeed “ROCKS”.
