Spotlight: You Take

Spotlight: You Take

Wow, Vortex11316 must be the most featured producer on this blog. For good reason, he produces great music, is receptive to feedback, and always takes the time to forward us his latest happenings. This song, titled ‘You Take’ is his first Avanna original, and highlights some of her best qualities.

This is my first creation with Avanna and I have been very impressed with her soft voice, articulation, and range of expression. The quiet middle section of this song was written specifically to showcase this. I think her voice opens up a lot of new musical opportunities for a more subtle side of Vocaloids. I’m currently working on an “unplugged” acoustic version of my first song, Morning light, that I’m hoping will fit her voice well.

This isn’t Vortex’s only work featuring Avanna either. Morning Light Unplugged is the acoustic Avanna remixed version of Morning Light, a song we have spotlighted here on Engloids.Info in past.

Spotlight: I Don’t Think So

Spotlight: I Don’t Think So

We haven’t had one of these in a while so imagine my surprise when Vortex11316 left this gift in my inbox. Always one to promote more Prima originals I figured it was a good song to bring the “Video Spotlight” back with.

Here is what Vortex11316 had to say about his latest work:

It’s an upbeat tune about infinite possibilities and an indomitable spirit. It started as an alternate version of Morning Light, which is why is has a similar rhythm. I tried to give Prima a confident voice with a bit of an attitude. The lyrics are about my personal belief that anyone can learn to do anything, if they put their mind to it. For the video, I moved away from space images for this one and focused on the words of the song with type animation.

Spotlight: Breaking Point

Spotlight: Breaking Point

Aiko’s first original! ;n;

Thank you sososososososo much Cien for writing the song, music and lyrics and letting me make Aiko sing it ;n; Aaron and I just added some extra higher vocal parts here and there.

It was a huge incentive to finish her English beta (which is still more alpha right now… I still have shittons of otoing to finish)

I’m so proud ;A; My baby is 2 years old and has a song of her own now~

Hopefully with many more to come as Cien and I improve ;n;

This is a song I have wanted to share ever since I first heard it. It wasn’t until the recent expansion in scope that this became possible. I had briefly considered sharing Big Al’s -Shatter Mix- but Koda has already been featured twice and I didn’t want there it to seem like we are giving him preferential treatment. For the uninitiated Breaking Point is Cein’s breakout English UTAU hit that inspired no less than 5 different remixes and a dozen covers between them.

It is one of the rare cases where the Vocaloid covers outnumber their UTAU counterparts. The number disparity likely has a lot to do with the limited number of Kit-Kat Capable UTAU, but the song is a landmark example of how English UTAU can rival, if not surpass their English counterparts. At almost 32k views this UTAU Original has more views than any 3 of Koda-P’s Originals combined. In fact, Koda-P’s -Shatter Mix-‘s views is only surpassed by Halloween Requiem, his one of his oldest Originals.

If you would like to find out more about Aiko, feel free to check out the UTAUxyz Blog and their Official YouTube Channel. If you would like to find out more about English UTAU, or UTAU in general, I invite you to join us at UTAforum.

Spotlight: Winner Takes It All (Cover)

Spotlight: Winner Takes It All (Cover)

Producer Alberto has a full writeup on the challenges of producing this cover.

This month’s feature was sent in by reader Alberto, staff at VocaloidMaster.com, and pupil of MasterVocaloid (Giuseppe) whom we have interviewed in past.

I hope you enjoy listening to the song. In my opinion one of the best work done with Sweet Ann to date, as also recognized Giusepp, which has been patient enough to endure my level of perfectionism, answering my questions and helping me to correct errors which, by their experience, have overlooked.

Alberto’s cover of ABBA’s ‘Winner Takes It All’ is an interesting study of phonemes and pronunciation as exampled by the producer’s full writeup about the song which chronicles the nuances of language, the challenges of Vocaloid, all from the prospective of a non-native English speaker.
