Released with almost no warning Vocaloid 3 Avanna is available for download through Zero-G’s Avanna-Vocaloid.com sub-site. Priced at $95 USD Zero-G continues their trend of pricing their Vocaloids lower than their PowerFX counterparts.
Zero-G also debuted two additional Demos embedded below:
Demo: Green Sleeves
Demo: Only Time
Right now Avanna is Download Only, with a physical version estimated fpr a late-January to early-Febuary release. We have reached out to Zero-G about the possibility of a Avanna/Vocaloid 3 Editor DVD bundle, but they were unable to comment at the time of press.
All versions of Avanna include a ‘lite’ version of the Vocaloid 3 Editor. The full Vocaloid 3 Editor is currently only available through PowerFX as a DVD for $120 [link] or from VocaloidStore (English) as a download for ￥9,800 [link].
Do note the ‘Lite’ editor include a limitation of 17 bars of music at one time. The Full Editor also includes additional features such as multi-track editing, effects support, plugin jobs, and the ability to import Vocaloid 2 voicebanks into the new rendering engine.

With Avanna’s launch right around the corner, rumored to be sometime within the next week, Zero-G has released another demo. Its short, at only 45 seconds and without a backing track it provides a nice clean look at Avanna’s vocal qualities.
The demo song is Wishing on a Star, originally an R&B song from 1978 sung by Rose Royce. Avanna seems to be exceptionally smooth and clear, though not without some delivery oddnesses that will likely take some fine tuning in-editor to work out.
The demo debuted on the Demo Page of the still in progress Avanna Vocaloid website. While still a Work-In-Progress the page had previously had a ‘coming soon’ message with an expected release date of December 20th.
Expect more details to come. You can follow our previous coverage on our Avanna site tag.

‘It is unlikely to be as soon as the 20th unfortunately. We are hopeful for a pre-Christmas release for the downloadable version, but we really cannot promise that. Thanks so much for your patience, and I’m very sorry for not having a definite answer yet.’

I am gonna write this one off as Yamaha’s fault.

This is a question that has been asked continually over the last month, looking at my Google Analytics alone all of the my top 5 Google search keywords are different combinations of ‘Avanna’ and ‘Release’. As we have no official news from the powers that be I figured I may as well rant and speculate on the topic.
Personally I am placing the blame on squarely on Yamaha, as for their motivations, and how I came to this conclusion, we will go over through the course of this article. Before we begin speculating let us first let us establish what we do, what official statements have been made, and the ‘facts’ of the situation. First we will have a look at Avanna, her artwork redesigns, what progress has been made on her vocals, and then we will look at the past with Oliver’s release last year. Once we have established what we do know, then I will go into my speculation, and the conclusions I have drawn from the situation at hand.

In likely the first of many such info-dumps Zero-G has authorized EmpathP (Aki Glancy) to give us our first look at Vocaloid 3 Avanna’s official artwork. This combined with the audio preview from yesterday VocaNoIro NekoCon Producers Panel Avanna Preview the public now has their first look at what Vocaloid 3 Avanna will both look and sound like.
Along with including the art, EmpathP has included a little ‘dev diary‘ giving us a look into how exactly Avanna came to be. There are a bunch of interesting factoids included in this dev diary including how EmpathP got the job, some of the revisions they made, and the reveal that Avanna’s may be of Irish descent, thus prompting the ‘Celtic’ theme.
Probably most interesting of all was the insight in how Yamaha has input in all of their sub-licencer’s VOCALOID production. Yamaha expressed concerns “that Zero-G’s approved design was not “Anime” styled enough” and requested Avanna be redesigned into a “cuter, modern anime style”, maybe in an attempt to grab that ‘moe’ appeal that is oh, so popular these days.

The full art is included after the jump. EmpathP’s full report at deviantArt, and see the artwork release post over at VocaloidOtaku. Our previous coverage can be found under the ‘Avanna‘ tag.
